Smith maritime?

Question

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of Smith Maritime a tug company from Florida,I heard a few people with stories of the owner and his strange boats,any stories out there?I am writing a sailing book and am trying to get some ideas.

The boats are beautiful esthetically and amazing to work on. The people of SM are the most eclectic, international and engaging group of people in general. Smith Maritime is one of, if not, the last sole proprietorships in the industry in the US. If you support the ideal of American blue collar workers, then there is nothing to be said negatively about SM. They strive to treat their workers far better than any international conglomerate corporation does.  
The woodwork on the outside of the wheelhouse is incredible and a signature.
Lastly, these negative comments are most likely from unfulfilled white collar pencil pushing wage slaves locked in modular offices.
