Smoke Bomb Question!!?

Question

when making a home made smoke bomb (salt peter, sugar, organic powdered dye) what brand or type of dye should i use and wheere can i buy it? (im looking for specific stores)

White Smoke Recipe

Potassium nitrate - 4 parts

Charcoal - 5 parts

Sulfur - 10 parts

Wood dust - 3 parts

Red Smoke Recipe

Potassium chlorate - 15%

para-nitroaniline red - 65%

Lactose - 20%

Green Smoke Recipe

Synthetic indigo - 26%

Auramine (yellow) - 15%

Potassium chlorate - 35%

Lactose - 26%

I just asked my dad who has a doctorate in chemistry ...thanks dad!

He said that you could also use pulverized crayon or the dye they sell for candles at craft stores(Like Michael's).

I found two links you can use to buy supplies or dye.

(BTW this gets super expensive, so it might just be cheaper to buy smokebombs premade!)

Before you go making a smoke bomb with para-nitroaniline, you might want to consider that it is very toxic and in general not something you want to fool around with.

There is also "equivocal evidence" (translation, it might) that p-nitroaniline causes cancer in mice.
