Smoke detector goes off when we use the clothes dryer...?

Question

Why does it do this...there is no smoke and this is the only time it goes off. It goes off the entire time the dryer is running.

Personally I would check to see if the lint filter is causing a problem, you may also have lint in the bottom of the cabinet.

This can be simply removed by someone who is handy at this sort of thing, but if you don't have someone who can assist you, call a qualified tradesman to check it out and deal with it as its always best to be safe rather than sorry

I would also check the position of your smoke detector - if plausible perhaps it could be relocated to another just as relevant position or perhaps you could use your dryer in another location if all the other things check out first. I am guessing that your smoke dectector is wired in as I have a similar problem with the two detectors in my home when I use my grill even tho there is no smoke - it sometimes goes off and really startles me. I just make sure I have a piece of dowel or broomstick handy to depress the button when it goes off. Hope this may help you to work out your problem

Check to see if it is an ionization-type smoke alarm.  If it is, changing to a photoelectric-type may solve your problem.

Before changing it, though, try cleaning it out.  A hair dryer on cool, or a vacuum cleaner could do it.

Do not get the combination ion/photo kind though.

lmao, it maybe heat sensitive too.

Check the vent, maybe the exhaust is blocked on the dryer.

is it a gas dryer and is your smoke detector also a carbon monoxide detector you could have blockage in your vent maybe a birds nest or something I would be very careful on using unless you have proper ventilation in house!

Hang a pair of underwear over it to block the fumes.
