Smoke to Henderick?

Question

Could Tony go to Henderick now with Casey Mears leaving the 5? I'm not a Henderick fan, but Dale Jr., J.J., Jeff Gorden, and Tony, that seems like a great team.

I dont think Tony has the right personality for Hendrick. So I personally dont think that Tony will move to Hendrick. But that team would be pretty unbeatable, the only forces they would have to reckon with are Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards.

I think it's very possible that he could end up at Hendrick. But I really don't see it happening. I'm a Stewart fan myself but he does have his bad side. I  personally get a kick out of it but I don't think that's something Mr. Rick Hendrick will tolerate. I'd love to see the powerhouse team made up of JJ, Gordon, Jr, and Tony. I said that when Jr went to Hendrick last year. It'd be an awesome team! I'd love to see it happen.

He did say this weekend at NH that now that Mears is leaving he outta go talk to Rick about that number 5 spot. It sounded a little sarcastic but who knows it could happen. He also said anyone would be crazy not to at least consider a spot at HMS.

Unfortunately it's just like the Jr speculation last season. We'll just have to wait it out and see what happens.

Kudos to Greenbean for handling the question with an accurate response. Before Tony takes a seat in the 5 car, I think he would rather step-up and own a car. I'm not comfortable with the idea of TS joing forces with a fella convicted of tax evasion and a team that had two cars confiscated at Lowes before the Coca Cola 600.

I remember when JGR switched to Toyota and I thought WTF? But then I realized in a rather short time this was move to get to the front of the line with a manufacturer. JGR was always an afterthought with GM because they had to keep Hendrick and DEI happy (and competitive).

Make no mistake - JGR does not want Tony to leave, but if it has to be then so be it. If Tony does decide to make the switch from driver to owner/driver I hope he hitches his wagon to someone more reputable.
