How annoying do you find it that we've been shunted out of the very pubs we've helped to support all this time??!

  1. I agree in principal with the ban on smoking in public places but the government has got it all wrong as far as pubs are concerned, I agree with your comments about supporting them for years, As a non smoking musician  I prefer the atmosphere but I'd much rather have the customers inside creating a meeting place around the bar rather than huddled in a space somewhere near the entrance of every pub in britain especially at this time of the year.

Bring back the smoking rooms or give the pubs the choice of whether they want to be smoking pubs or not, the staff and customers can then decide whether they go in or not  .

  2. There is a pro-smoking lobby setting up in the North of England, who probably normally vote Labour, however, they are encouraging all smokers to not vote at the next election as a protest against this bossy Government. This is regards smoking in private working mens clubs. Blair promised that they would be exempted from any legislation, however, he broke his word, probably because Cherie gave him an ear bending.

I wish them every success, and I might even join them, except, I would never vote Labour, not even under torture.

  3. I don't know where you live, but in California, it seems like smokers are the most hated people on earth. Let's revolt!

  4. i definitely agree with you, it should be up to you if you smoke or not.we English are too soft to complain.

  5. As long a s the government has a hypocrytical policy on smoking, I will not back them up. Smokers pay heavy taxes for their pleasure, and all the money that goes into Gordons arfe pocket from tobacco should go into seriously helping smokers to quit, not treating them like lepers.

Smokers are addicted to the most addictive substance on earth... Nicotine.

The government has pushed tobacco for generations, and all of a sudden comes over all altruistic.

Heroin addicts get state help and sympathy, and their drug is illegal.

Surely Nicotine addicts should get at least this level of help, after all, you never saw anyone mugging an old lady for ten woodbines, or commiting murder to smuggle a box of havanah cigars into the country.

Smokers have had enough of being picked on by so called do gooders. Leave us alone to kill ourselves if we want to, and go and pick on people who really do the harm.. Drug dealers and the like... oh yes, I forgot, if you pick on them, they come after you with guns, on the other hand, smokers come after you with a really nasty cough, so that's why you pick on them... COWARDS

  6. Sorry pal, we are now the "unclean" of the world...the boils on the butt of humanity.

Don't know how it happened, but the world hates us and our evil 2nd hand smoke. I've lost the will to fight it anymore - I just pay the REDICULOUS taxes and occasionaly blow a puff of smoke in the face of an uptight passerby.

  7. Who cares? The graveyards are populated with people who have died from lung cancer.

Smoking is a hideous habit that shortens your life.

  8. Agreed. Viva la revolution! Compulsory smoking in all pubs!

  9. In reading through the previous answers, I wondered if those who seemed to oppose my right to smoke, would feel the same if people were opposing their right to drink.  You can run a parallel between these two vices.  Both kill the ones addicted.  Both are blamed for causing the death of others (second hand smoke/drunk driving)  Both are annoying to others that don't partake. etc..  When they come after your right to drink, just remember how hard you fought to take away my right to smoke and how happy you were each time some of my rights were infringed.

  10. There is no "place to even QUIT!"

    Sad, eh?

    Good luck!

  11. Unite away. Preferably away from me.

Pubs are in business to sell drink and food, not black lung. I notice the bars aren't all empty.

  12. Unlucky. See, the whole problem with your habit is you breath out.

If you can learn how to stop doing that, great. Smoke wherever you like.

Until you do, remind me why I should have to drink at home because the pub's full of smoke?

Go on, by all means unite. Who're you gonna vote for? Every major party voted for it the smoking ban.

  13. well why should my clothes stink of your smoke

  14. Agree 100% with you, our Government is Fascist pandering to those who get off on telling people what to do.

  15. I find it delightful, actually.
