I hate cigarette smoke - but I love France.

I just wondered if anyone could tell me how the smoking ban is going for BARS and RESTAURANTS.

  1. The fascistic anti-smoking ban has been largely accepted.

Several hundred establishments have been closed and something on the order of 1000 people thrown out of work to satisfy the anti-smoking n***s deep rooted desire to order other people around.

Hitler, himself a virulent anti-smoker, would have been proud.

  2. I don't know how that's going but I can't imagine very well. It is too much a part of the cafe scene. Cigarettes are practically a staple in the French diet just as much as a croissant or a baguette. Vive la France!!!

  3. Living in Paris the second hand smoke is terrible.  Yes, it's much better in offices and restaurants; however, the real bummer is when you are a non-smoker and want to sit on the terrace and enjoy your meal outside you are absolutely surrounded by chain smokers.  That's disgusting.  I understand some  Parisian cafes and restaurants are experiencing customers who dine inside then tell the waiter they are going to take a quick smoke outside and return.  Guess what?  Many don't come back so the poor owner has lost out.  Regarding bars, one of my friends who frequents the clubs says it's pretty gross smelling now.  He said before the cigarette smoke covered the urine smelling stench.  Désole, my friend!

  4. The air is definitely getting more clean

Wow i still remember my childhood (i grew up in France) where i could almost not see other tables and people. Bars and restaurants were filled with smoke!

  5. everything is ok, but i live in the south, so, everybody smoke outside.

this is a stupid law !

  6. It is going very well. I can now go in restaurants and cafes I didn't dare enter before and go to dancing clubs as well without chocking to death. I can also now have a non smoking table which is not at the back of the restaurant or next to the kitchen or the toilets (the best seats somehow were always smoking) breathing in the cigarette smoke wafting from the front. People are getting used to it, those who want to smoke and eat seat outside. Those smokers who politely didn't light up inside continue to seat inside and light up once outside. Which is what I did when I was a smoker.

The only places threatened by the ban are those places offering water pipes to their clients, as this is the basis of their service they are fighting to have a dispensation to the smoking ban.

  7. better than expected actually, most people respect it !!!! it's so much better to go for a meal in France !!!
