Smoking in brussels???

can anyone tell me what the rules of the smoking law in belgium are??can i hav a smoke in a bar?

Indeed, I have been to many bars in Brussels where they serve food and people still smoke.  Most bar owners are either tolerant towards smokers or they have a separate section outside (but heated) where smokers can eat.

You may or you may not, it depends whether the bar has two rooms, because that's one of the requirements to establish a designated smoking area, since 1st of January 2007.

If the bar serves food, you may not smoke in the bar.  

If they simply serve drinks, and have two different sections, then there is smoking allowed in one of the sections.

My experience has been that people tend to smoke in both sections though, and that it isn't universally enforced by law enforcement authorities or bar owners.
