Smoking in the office!!!!!?

okay i am not the boss! but there is a man smoking in the office we (me and my boss who is not the boss of him either) have caught him doing this 4 times already. he has already been confronted 2 times...should we call Field human resources on him? any suggestions welcome

Oh yeah, I would call HR and also his manager and his mangers manger.  If nothing happens then, thats when you call the local health inspectors and maybe even the law, as he is breaking the law by smoking in the building. Maybe OSHA should be called if it does continue.

I would suggest that you ignore the advise of your other answerer's and leave the man alone because although you might find smoking irritating, smoking is not nearly as irritating (or dangerous) as intolerance.

If he is smoking within feet of you, you might ask him to do it farther away.  If on the other hand he is being considerate and smoking in a corner ten yards away or by a window then it is not hurting you so there is no need for you to hurt or inconvenience him.  Better to return his considerate behaviour by being considerate yourself.
