Smoking pot before getting pregnant. bad ?

Question

I need to know whether or not smoking marijuana a a teen will affect any kind of fetal development when I actually decide to start a family. We looked at horrible pictures of things that have happened to babies because of pot, like no arm or leg development, and I don't want to endanger my future children or their children in any way...it's supposedly hereditary. If someone smokes they can have mutated reproductive cells that can be passed down. True? Yes or no? I researched it but all i could find was effects of smoking during pregnancy, which is not my question. help, please and thanks :]

Don't even take the risk. Pot smokers are foolish people whos lives seem meaningless so they try to make it better by doing drugs and c**p. Like I said, don't even take the risk!

Yes i know its true. The active ingredients in pot, over a long time i.e. several years everyday, will harm sperm count and female fertilization.

When I fell pregnant with my daughter, my then-husband was smoking pot every day, though I didn't find this out till I was already (accidentally) pregnant.  I asked my antenatal nurse if there would be any effect on my baby, and she came up with a couple of brochures on it, but again it was mostly about smoking while you're pregnant. The research seemed to have come to no real conclusions about whether or not it was harmful.

I went through the pregnancy in the usual way, gave up cigarettes, didn't drink, ate all the right things, did all the right things. I went into labour in the usual way, if 10 days overdue. My little girl was born dead. She never breathed, never opened her eyes. Who is to say if it was because my loser husband was a pot-head? The doctors could find no reason why my otherwise-perfect baby didn't live.

Can you live with the possibility of a baby of yours having something wrong with it or dieing because you wanted to  have fun at parties? Pot isn't like it used to be, it's genetically modified and hydroponically grown these days, and God only knows what it's doing to you, and others.

My daughter may have died, and my marriage was destroyed by the stupid drug. Do yourself a favour and have fun without polluting yourself with all that rubbish.

Those pictures and defomities may have occured because of drugs, but I can tell you that pot does not produce flipper babies. While smoking pot may or may not be something that is recommended, it will not effect your babies development in the future if you so choose to have one. Infact, the effects of pot during pregnancy are not nearly as bad as the effects of cigarette smoking or alchohol during pregnancy. What happens is that there is a risk for a low birth rate and possible attention disorders later on in life. There is talk about 'withdrawl', but there's no such thing as marajuana withdrawl. So, don't smoke pot while pregnant, but jeez, they must really be putting kids through a brain washing scare fest to be showing you pictures like that. Anyway, to answer your question, if you don't smoke very often (and most pot smokers don't) you'll be fine. If you start smoking pot daily, your fertility may be at risk. Enjoy!

You and your baby will be fine. Women in the poor parts of Jamaica use pot during pregnancy for nasea, and actually have healthier, bigger babies than the people in the more affluent parts of Jamaica that do not use pot. The studies that show this were done over several decades.

Google marijuana+jamaica+pregnancy, and the studies should show up.

Smoking is bad.  But vaporizing is less bad.  Invest in one!
