i am a smoker and was all for the smoking ban in pubs as i dont like to inflict anyone with my habit if they find it offensive and dont smoke! however i went out a lot through the winter and went outside for a f*g, rain and snow and wind, the non smokers thought it was highly amusing and i didnt care as my choice to be a smoker and therefore i understand the ban.....not a problem! however it does bother me when all the non smokers suddenly lose there fears of passive smoking in the summer and invade our private smokers lounge because the weather is good! is it double standards or what?

  1. I'm a smoker to,my thoughts are like yours, slowly but surely our freedoms are being stripped away, until one day we'll wake up and our voice will count for nothing, democracy my ar*e.

  2. in all respect not all none smokers were that bothered whether the ban came in or not...i am a none smoker and i couldn't care less about whether the ban took place, the only thing i did think was maybe it was a bit unfair for people to smoke at the bar due to other customers and the staff as well, but i did not see a problem with a smokers room with ventilation and extractor fans.

the thing that does annoy me though is when you walk through town and you walk up the roads with the pubs and cafes you can't help but to subject your kids to passive smoking as you walk past as they have seating areas that between them all take up most of the pavement which fair enough is outdoors, but it still takes affect. i think that i would have sooner the ventilated room...

but yeah, i do agree, i think that none smokers sholdn't go in the smokers area, it is unfair on them as most of them have limited space

  3. Not in are pub the landlord put singes up smokers only. as he agrees with what you have said and he don't smoke. The non smokers don't like that one bit.Ha! Ha! Bring back the old pub way public bar for smokers. Lounge, And saloon.

  4. As you said: we are outcast.

Smokers are discriminated. But if you ask me, the BAN is wrong and not the (behavior) of non-smokers. Your position is very tolerant towards the non-smokers, but the ban is completely intolerant to all of us smokers. That is where I see the problem. There is NO MUTUAL TOLERANCE.

Why not have Smoking pubs and Non-smoking pubs?

This world is going into a bad direction when there are BANS being introduced. Will they forbid cars? Industries? Cows? or all of it?

    Who knows what´s next..

  5. Yes I think it is. I mean I guess you have to keep in mind that they didn't invent and pass this idea in law... but some of them at least had to influence it.

Sometimes, I feel like there is no reason for things... some people just like to b****.

I don't know what their deal is.

  6. i miss smoking ahh i dreamed last night of it . have a puff for me

  7. I got asthama because my grandma was a smoker. so im fulled of justified hate. i also hate it how you guys cluster around the door. its like walking through a muffler  blast. you suck:(

  8. Yo man I hear you most of my mates smoke so we are always out in the smoking area, funny thing is the few nonsmokers we know that were all for the smoking ban and always going on about the smell off their clothes and c**p are out in the smoking area with us we just laugh, how boring are they if they are willing to suffer the smoking area rather than sit with each other lol.

Ps I do agree with the smoking ban I do understand it.

  9. I agree, if you dont like the smoke, step away from the smoking area!!!!

  10. It was anti-smokers that invaded pubs. where it had been allowed for centuries. Accordingly, it wasn't smokers who invaded traditional no smoking areas. It is likely that many of the anti-smoking zealots don't even go into pubs. Who are the usurpers? Pubs. were never meant for unsociable puritans, but for sociable people who don't obsess about their health.

Moreover, many are now closing because of the smoking ban.

  11. Well do not support socialized medicine or smoking won't be the only choice taken away from the people. So will trans fats, and eating what you want. You will need a health check and a form just to buy a pizza if they start the socialist programs they are wanting to. It is all a scam in the name of over control and money.

  12. As an ex smoker, I feel I must praise you for putting up with the draconian measures that this NuLabour PC left handed wan.king brigade have brought in. I am surprised - but highly delighted that most smokers abided by the new rules though. Pubs are nice smokeless places to enjoy a pint now, and I think it has it's benefits. HOWEVER, pub trade has declined even further and it has cost businesses a lot by banning this.

But, if non - smokers are 'invading' your smoking areas, then they have NO right to dictate to you, but they are there by choice. So, if they get cancer, let them blame themselves.

  13. I am a reformed smoker, but am not  a pain in the a**e about it.  OK the ban is in place, most smokers are like yourself about it, but what infuriates me about no smoking campaigners is the way you are now made to feel like social pariah.

The tax you pay on cigarettes is still astronomical.  Am I going to get a rebate for giving up after all the years I contributed? I'm tired of hearing about how much we cost the NHS...the tax I paid I'm sure I should have several wings and special units named after me!!!

As for standing outside, it is appalling, for the smokers! Non smokers just shift out of the way...you can't have it all ways.

Ban it completely, then the debate will end but somehow at over £5 a packet not going to happen soon is it?  In your average pub my health is put at risk so much more by drunken pigs than someone dragging on a tab in the rain at the door.

Smoking is not good for you, but you know that, and I respect your right to choose.  As for the NHS and smokers, I have no objection to fund a service that treats smokers, as you are absolutely right in my lifetime smoking was advertised as having health and social benefits!  Do I mind funding tattoo removal, IVF, s*x changes, breast reductions...? Smokers should not be villified, given support if they wish to stop and accommodated if they choose not to!

  14. well they have every right to laugh its a free country and the reson we have a smoking ban is to try and discurige smoking, it can take up to 20 years of your life and makes you look mean, so they are laufing coz they think u are beingn hard and have to go out in the snow to smoke so you get cold and look stupid, and it doesnt mater how far away you are from a area were u can smoke you still end up breathing it in.

  15. Where is the private smoker's lounge? You indicate you had to go out in all weathers for a drag!

Double standards your non-smokers yes, but they did only laugh when you had to go out to smoke.

I think all pubs should be allowed to have a room where smoking is ok.  Punters could choose to use it or not.

As someone who gave it up (only smoked for 5 years) I know there is no-one more critical and intolerant than one whose kicked the habit.

  16. Yes and they tut and grumble about it too. In our local, we have lots of friends who are non smokers, who just come outside in all weathers for the social aspect, as there is hardly anyone inside the pub.lol.

  17. The smokers should be able to have a place to drink and smoke and eat and smoke but the zealots have taken it upon themselves to invade others privacy! Oh for health reasons? Yea right! I see people driving like a*sholes and the zealots are more than likely the ones driving radically and the cops do nothing but hang out on the highways and not at the city corners busting red light runners! Oh no we now use cameras for that and that frees them up for more hazardous duty right? People dying from stress from their jobs is less of a priority than the medical community stopping smoking! Oh and as for you candi a*s's who sit in a office aren't the ones I'm referring to! PS if this don't apply to you then it don't! FROM a realist!

  18. hi its the same thing us none smokers dont like to be split up with friends that smoke so go to the smokers corner as you cant come to us we have to go to your place where you smoke. it never botherd me if people smoke in pubs so but when a rule is put there we have to go by it. it is up to the person thats whants to go out side and sit with the smokers
