  1. I have a 60 watt bulb in my lamp you fool and many other people do too - a fact that has escaped your pea-sized brain.

  2. Bulbs will not smell like they are burning. They are made to get extremely hot and survive. The burning smell is from the lamp socket or wiring. Do not use the lamp until the socket and wiring is checked. This is a very simple job usually done with a screwdriver,a pocket knife, and a replacement socket. Like all electrical problems be careful and notice which wires on the socket are connected to which ever pole on the socket. There is a polarity here that should be recognized. The positive side of the wiring should be connected to the center part of the lite bulb. In a home electrical system the smaller side of the plug is always the positive or hot side of the system.

  3. you probably had the wrong wattage of bulb, try a lower wattage, as they give off less heat.

  4. "No" get new lamp or repair at your own risk..
