  1. It is illegal to smoke, eat and use a mobile phone while driving.

It has been in ALL the newspapers, on the TV and radio for a while now.  It is all down to how efficient/vigiliant the Police Force in your area are, as how the implement the laws.  If you are zig zagging/weaving around on the road they will definitely stop you and fine you heavily.

  2. just pretend it is

  3. No, so far as I know there's nothing to prevent you from giving yourself cancer while driving. There's also no law against you decreasing the value of your car because you can never remove the stale cigarette smell. Some places in the US ARE passing laws making it illegal to smoke if you have children in the car, as it should be.  The kids shouldn't have to suffer just because the parents are uncaring.

  4. no, its not.

although it is illegal if its in a work vehicle.

also depends what state, in CA it's illegal if there are minors in the car.

  5. Its not against the law but if you do have an accident you could be charged with dangerous/reckless driving becuse you were smoking at the time. The only law that stops you from smoking in cars the the one introduced in july. in this case you can't smoke in taxis, buses, and company cars. there is more places but this shuld give the rough idea

  6. Strange one really.Have you seen or been caught out when a wasp or bee enters the car and whoops away we go.So that could be next, illegal movement of livestock, face it,the bill for law gets bigger and bigger,so revenue is needed no matter how its done so we may as well get used to plenty of ???

  7. I would venture to say that it is only illegal if it is something other that regular tobacco you are smoking

  8. No it's not true.  Not YET anyway.  They are considering it though.

It is against the law to smoke in the car if it's a works vehicle, and I'm not sure how you stand if you have other people in your car.  But it's not against the law as far as I am aware.  How would the police it anyway.  This goverment is going bonkers.

  9. it's not agaist the law yet you'll see loads in the papers when that one comes in.

(who is Dennis to tell you to stop smoking your not smoking crack in church are you)

  10. As everyone else has said, it's not against the law but you can still get into trouble especially if you're involved in an accident.

There was a news item not long ago about someone who got stopped for eating an apple. With this in mind I guess it's quite possible to get stopped for doing a bunch of things that many of us do while driving.

However i'm not too worried about it... the amount of people who I see using a mobile phone which IS against the law just goes to show how difficult or unlucky you have to be to get caught. Even MP's do it!!

  11. they are trying to get it banned.. the b********

it is in a work vehicle, but not your own.. ironically the people who have hit my car have been none smokers.

but if it's distracting you from the road, then yer it maybe so.

some bloke got in trouble for having a full ashtray I remember.

  12. No not against the law... But has been suggested that if in an accident and smoking   ,,, might be charged with not being in proper control of vehicle ???

  13. hello. its not against the law for your own veichle but it is in public transport ie buses trains and so on i will also say taxi drivers are banned from smoking in cabs here in the uk as if you was caught you will lose your license. taxi badge. they should show more respect and show an x sample to the public.

  14. This has been a grey area recently. There is no specific law that bans smoking whilst driving (except some new regulations for work vehicles), but recent changes in the highway code mean that smoking can be considered as driving without due care and attention, so for example if you had an accident whilst smoking this would mean you were potentially liable to prosecution. I would expect a total ban for smoking whilst drivng in the next few years.

  15. If you had an accident you could sue the car manufacturer for fitting a cigar lighter.

It is only actually Illegal in work vehicles in the UK right now.

  16. I know that one law was being considered was smoking in a car that carried minor passengers.  Exposing them to second hand smoke.

  17. its not illegal to smoke in the car but it is illegal to light up in the car, dodgy rules but justice system is alittle screwed up lols hope this helps.

  18. The government are talking about bringing in legislation to stop drivers from smoking whilst driving, as well as doing anything that distracts attention from driving, such as using hands-free mobile phone technology.

It is not illegal yet, but as the government wants to stop us all from doing anything, it won't be long before it is illegal to put your left sock on before the right!

  19. I don't really think that's against the law, I would sheck on the internet and look for your states laws...

  20. Technically it is as you are not fully in control of your car which is reckless driving -  people have been given points for drinking out of a bottle of water or eating a sandwich at traffic lights for reckless driving

If policeman saw you lighting a cigarette he may think  that is worse then drinking out of bottle as you have hot end of cigarette or the hot cigarette lighter in your hand - if you dropped on yourself or in the car you could cause accident.

Have never seen in paper that someone has been stopped but think it will happen one day

  21. in some cases yes in others no..it's only a matter of time ..maybe one day they will make it against the law for every pleasure we have..my aunt lived to be 102..and had her roll-up every day from the age of 12..i think it must have been the cigs that sent her to the golden gates..

  22. It is against the law if you have a child in your car.  I'm not sure if this is for all states or not.

  23. its not a law but its bad for your health and you should stop
