Snail problem?

i have a fingernail size unknown snail that comes out of the water in the fishtank idk why it keeps comming out of the water ps i want to get a new snail from da pet store ill put it in a 5 gal tank that has only 1 male betta fish its heated and filter and is it ok to but the smaller one in a local park pond if it starts to mate

  1. do not put those snails in the pond it is ilegal on most occasions don't buy another snail just be happy with one and if they breed you'll have snail infestation and yes it is ok to put that only one with a betta

It's probably a Ramshorn Snail, which commonly hitch hikes into tanks on plants or in fish bags.  Releasing them is ILLEGAL as it leads to invasive species that destroy the ecosystems and can easily spread exotic diseases.  It will be fine in the 5 gallon tank with the Betta.  If they breed, scoop them out, put them in a bag, and freeze them.  After they are very dead, you can throw them in the trash.
