Question:

Snake Cage Cleaning?

I recently had a python who died from IBD (Inclusion Body Disease) and it's highly contagious.

I should be getting a new snake in two weeks but I want to avoid re-buying everything so would it be okay to use boiling water on the cage and everything else in it?

or what would your suggestions be?

I have this type of hideout

just a regular Zilla Terrarium Dish

and I have this type of wood for her/him to climb on only the one I have is thicker

I posted these to see if it would be okay to boil these items especially the wood.

  1. wash every thing that can be washed with bleach water including the tank. the wood I have no idea about sorry.

  2. Well I would recommend bleaching EVERYTHING and hose them down over and over again(better be safe then sorry)

So basically just bleach the tank a few times and make sure you got rid of the bleach so it wouldn't harm the snake.

As for the other things, just put a little bleach on the accessories with a lot of water so it would just get rid of the bacteria.

You shouldn't boil the accessories because it would be soaked into the wood and then it would be dry rot. And that wouldn't be so fun.

And if you don't feel like doing all of that then you could use rubbing alcohol with water.

Hope this could help you a bit!

  3. Would you please e-mail me and tell me where you got the tree branch please? =[ - Jeffreylil100@hotmail.com

  4. ya that would be fine but if you use a 5% bleach sloution it would clean it even better.

  5. My bf has a python, bleach everythng you can, boil the wood but do this a couple times to be sure, after you have bleached things, use boiling water on them a few times to eliminate the bleach from harming your new snake.

  6. i would not use the same tank. I would not get  a new snake and use the same tank! I would save up and get all new things. Put the new snake in a new tank. Better chance him living and not dieing.!

  7. use a water/bleach solution on the all the plastics and tank

    and

    for the wood

bake it at 350 degrees F

    for about an hour
