  1. Garden Tech Seven-5 dust

  2. i would go ahead and treat your other snake as if it had mites as well...an ounce of prevention.  mites are such a pain to deal with  i would rather be safe than sorry.

  3. mite spray

  4. I would keep all of your cages spotless & clean - and I would probably remove any and all substrate in those cages (since the mites can hide in the substrate).

Or you can just wait a while and see if you find any on your other snakes & just play it by ear.

    Good luck.

  5. You should treat all of your snakes for mites- they are present in your house, and all of your snakes will get them sooner or later. They will leave the snake to lay eggs, usually in porous wood surfaces. The young mites must return to the host (snake) to survive.

Here's how I have successfully treated and eliminated mites:

-Thoroughly clean the snakes cages and everything in them

-Wipe all of the mites off of the snakes

-Put a small amount of Seven dust (available at garden stores) at the bottom of the snakes cages. Put NEWSPAPER on top of the dust as a substrate.

-This will kill any mites that attempt to return to the host, thereby eliminating the life cycle. Clean and replace the Seven every few days, until the mites are totally eliminated (about two weeks).

Most reptile "mite control" products do not work very well.

  6. you may just want to vacuum and clean the room a little but they don't travel far. The best mite treatment is a spray called prevent-a-mite and it works amazing.
