Snake not eating?

Question

My boyfriends snake has stopped eating, about 4 days now. He caught it injured in the wild as baby and had it for about 1 1/2 years. Not exactly sure what kind of snake, or if it is male or female. Shed about 4 weeks ago and has been eating 2 mice every other day. We put two mice in the cage and he went for them but then gave up. Any suggestions?

snakes dont eat things that are all ready dead so i saw a show once and they put a mouse on this little poll and moved it around and then the snake ate it but if you just drop it in there then he/she wont eat it.

well snakes will only eat once a month or even once every 2 months..so that might be the problem!

sounds to me like you are feeding it too much. wait a week and Try it again.

holy c**p he is feedig it WAY too much.  adult snakes only eat every 7 - 14 days some snakes only eat once a month or so.  

also the snake needs to be fed in a feeding tub.  a short plastic box from wal mart or target large enough for the snake to move around in.  drill several holes in the tops of the sides.  after the snake eats wait about 20 minutes and then put the snake back in his tank.

snakes go on hunger stirkes all the time. i had a ball python that didn’t eat for almost a year.  my adult kingsnake went on a hunger strike for about 4 months. snakes just do that. unless your snake is losing muscle mass I wouldn’t worry about it too much. don’t offer it food too often you will stress it out...just offer it food every 10 days or so. if your snake is used to being handled a lot go ahead and handle him normally.  

also the last thing i would take the snake to the vet to see if it might have suffered any ill effects from being fed so often.  a snakes lifespan can be greatly shortened by over feeding.

Snakes should only eat once a week. Your probably overfeeding it. Try again next week, if he refuses, you may want to check your temps and humidity to make sure everything is okay.
