From the time the snake's eyes first turn glassy, (this one in particular is a JCP) how long before he starts shedding, how long will it take for him to finish, and how long before and after should I wait to handle him? All answers are greatly appreciated.

  1. Hi

My Jungle X Diamond python takes in the region of a week to go through the full shed cycle. During this time ensure he has a large water dish (mine likes to sit in his) and spay his viv to keep the humidity up.  I don't stop handling mine, he's a feisty juvenile and needs it to be kept up, and has never nipped me when in shed.  Don't stop feeding due to shed either, nothing stops mine from eating!!

    Hope that helps...

  2. well i do this with all my snakes is when i no they are about to shed is put them in a bowl of warm water an they will usually shed in 24 hours. but u can just be patient and wait it is your choice. good luck

  3. once you notice there eyes start to get glassy and there skin turning gray then its normally about a week or so ( every snake is different).

always wait to handle your snake until its eyes no longer look glassy b/c you dont want to put your hand in there and the snake think its food!
