Question:

Snake with cloudy eyes, does not shed?

I noticed about 3 days ago that my snake had cloudy eyes, and I had been told that meant she would shed soon. Her scales were also slightly dull. But today, her eyes were no longer cloudy and her shed skin was nowhere to be found. Should I be worried?

  1. Not at all, a snake sheds it's skin a few days after the eyes clear up. Just give it time and it'll happen. Make sure the snake has a dish of water since they sometimes like to soak before shedding to soften the skin and has access to a fake log, rock, etc to rub up against.

  2. nope sounds normal. Make sure there is a bowl of water large enough for the snakes entire body to get into. Soaking helps it shed in one piece.

  3. Perfectly normal.  Her shed will occur in the next day or three.  As well as the crock of water for soaking which others have suggested, it's a good idea to mist her habitat and bring the humidity up by about 10% during the pre-shed/shed period.

You'll soon have a glossy pretty gal.  Just be patient, and enjoy.
