Question:

Snakes by my pool?

About a year ago there was about a 3 ft long black and yellow eastern hognose snake by my pool and yesterday a green and black ringed snake about 1 ft 5 in. long shows up in the same area. There are boards surrounding my pool just to have a little extra area to put chairs and tables on and there are numerous holes that look like they have been dug to get under the boards. What should I do?

  1. call the animal control centre  they will be able to send out people who know how to get rid of them. they might be able to get traps or something else for that matter

  2. if these snakes are not dangerous, then nothing.

if you just dont want snakes around, remove the boards. by removing the habitat/shelter, the snakes will be encouraged to move on.

but there are benefits to having snakes around, such as them eating rodents and the such.

if you leave the boards there, they will keep coming back. if you dont mind the snakes but just dont want them there, remove the boards and stick them in the far corner of your yard.
