  1. carpet python are where the money is designer mophs of ball python / carpet python have also been breed in the american freak show of australian carpet pythons. and me i just love what i do,

  2. the price of the snake is the thing if you get it fairly cheap it will cost around 200 easy

  3. You should be able to get a "wild type" (aka normal non-morph) Ball Python male for about $35-50 and a female for around $50-$85. The price will go up into the tens of thousands for designer morphs.

As far as the habitat goes that should run you around $50.00

1 - 16qt sterilite tub (about $5 from Wal-Mart, or Target) - Make sure you grab the lid for it too! This isn't the final size you'll need, but BPs do better in tight quarters so a 60qt tub is a bit big for a 15 inch snake.

1 - Bungee cord (to secure the lid to the tub should cost a few dollars at most)

    1 - Zoo-med UTH (4 watt mini about $20.00 from a petco)

2 - Cottage cheese containers to cut a hole in the side and make a hide for the snake.  The snake should be able to fit in there, but it should be snug.

    1 - A plastic container for a water bowl

    1 - Some duct tape.

1 - Soldering iron for air holes.

A lot of people want to get huge glass tanks to show off their snakes, but BPs tend to do nothing but hide all day long. They come out at night so you'll save yourself a lot of money by going the cheap route since you'll almost never see them.

Of course if you insist on a display type tank check out craigslist and look for something there. A lot of times you'll find a 20 gallon tank for about 0.25 per gallon being sold there.

Keeping snakes is really cheaper than most people think it is if you spend a little time and energy doing what needs to be done and shopping around.

  4. Hello; I'll draft up a quick list of what you'll need for an adult Ball python and a rough estimate as to the cost. The prices are assuming you are purchasing everything new. :)

Ball python itself- 30-70 dollars on average, depending primarily on where you get it and the age.

30-55 gallon secure, locking terrarium. A typical screen top tank is sufficient if most of the top is covered, but preferably something that is closed top and front opening in order to retain proper humidity levels- 70-300 dollars.

Substrate- 1-15 dollars, depending on what type is used and how much you purchase. A quick tip: While I have used Aspen, Cypress, Paper towels, etc in the past; Eco-earth by Zoo-med in my experience has worked incredibly well for my twelve year old Ball python. He has been healthier, happier, better hydrated, and hasn't had a bad shed since I started using it.

Two thermometers and a hygrometer- 5-20 dollars, depending on the quality and type used.

Heating apparatus of some sort (Heat lamp, ceramic heat emitter, under-tank heater)- 20-40 dollars.

Two or three hides- 10-50 dollars, depending on type used.

Water dish- 1-15 dollars, depending on which kind you prefer.

Spray bottle for misting- 1-3 dollars at your local Wal-mart type or Dollar store.

Unnecessary, but still nice to have for Ball pythons:

Cage decor, such as branches, fixed rock formations, or decorative plants made for reptile use not only improve the look of the terrarium but also give the snake something to rub against while shedding- 5-60 dollars, depending on where it is purchased, how much, and what kind you use.

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions at all on the subject; please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to assist you. :)

    Good luck!
