Don't they get suspicious since it was already opened and the seal is broken?

  1. Put it in your check bagged vs carry on.  Be smart about the coloring of the liquid.  I.E. vodka in water bottle, whiskey in ice tea bottle.  Also helpful if you've back other snacks...

  2. We were recently on an 11 day NCL cruise in Hawai'i and the couple that we were with packed a suitcase with bottles of wine/champagne and a case of beer.

Luggage is not inspected by NCL so they got away with it but kept it in their luggage so that they wouldn't get caught.

There was  a time when this rule was not in effect but the cruise industry realized how much money they were losing and all of them began enforcing these rules.

You do so at your own risk, as others have pointed out.  But it can be done.

  3. I wouldnt dare.....you can be arrested for that

  4. Carnival check sometimes and sometimes not.  however if you are going to do this with water bottles, it needs to be something like gin vodka or something of that nature that looks like water.  cases of beer obviously is not a good idea.

  5. This sounds like a good idea but be careful or you could get arrested.

  6. i've done it, with no probs.  they only do random searches of checked bags... probably one in fifty bags.  it's not like alcohol is the only thing they're searching for, and they have about 5 hours to get about 4,000 bags thru security, on the boat, and to the correct room... so, the chances of them taking the time to check the seal is slim.  even if they get found, all they'll do is throw them out.  i put one bottle in my checked bag, and one in my carry-on... just in case one got found, hopefully i would still have the other (neither was found).  i'm not sure how much you plan on drinking, but it can save you A LOT of money.

  7. Be a Big Boy. Buy your Booze on Board.

  8. They will check and they do. They are wise to all of the tactics people try to sneak booze on board.

  9. No - put it in your checked in luggage.  I have done it on all 10 cruises and we have never had a problem.  And they are NOT going to refuse to let you board.  The only thing they will do if they find it is take it away from you - and they will return it to you the last night of the cruise.

  10. you could try but i wouldn't do it. i can understand though because you'd save a lot of money especially if you drink a lot. hopefully you would only put clear alcohol in the water bottles.

  11. It's a great way to get yourself thrown off the cruise without a refund.  (and it DOES happen)

Do you really want to risk it?

And if the person is underage, it will result in both them and possibly the parents going to jail. So to anyone considering this idea;  sell your integrity at your own peril!

Is it really worth all that fear of being caught just to have a drink?

  12. I do know that if Royal Caribbean catches you, they can refuse to let you embark, with no refund.  It is in their ticket contract.

  13. psh tell them to s***w off.

  14. don't even try it, it is not worth losing you whole vacation over it. they have the right to not let you on the ship and don't have to give you a dime back because you broke the contract.

and if you read that is how some of the missing cruisers started out.

  15. My husband and I went on a cruise 5 years ago and totally pack some liquor. It's not a big deal, just put it into your checked in luggage and leave a little room for the plastic bottle to expand while in flight. It's a great way to make your own pre-dinner drinks in the evening. Yum!
