Sneaking alcohol...?

Well, I'm only eighteen, me and couple friends are going on a cruise for spring break (my one friend's parents are going as well), however, we won't be able drink on the cruise. So, I was wondering what my likelyhood of being caught would be if I filled hairspray, shampoo and mouthwash bottles with alcohol? Anyone ever been caught/ heard of anyone getting caught What's the consequences on carnival?

  1. Why can't you just go on the cruise and enjoy it without drinking?  There are enough so-called adults who get bombed and throw up all over the place, act like idiots, etc., without having underage kids doing it, too.

It doesn't sound to me like you are very mature - and if you do anything stupid after drinking, they can put you and your entire family off at the next port of call and you'll have to find your own way home.  How disappointed your parents would be in you when you're "found out" - and odds are you will be.

Just go and have a great time - you don't need alcohol to do that.

  2. Well, dude, you may get away with it and you may get caught.  If you do get caught by ship security, you very well might lose your entire trip with no refund.  This will go for the entire group of you - and the friend's parents could get into serious trouble for contributing to the deliqeuncy of a minor.  I would check with them before trying anything that may get them into big trouble.

  3. Yeah just sneak it on, wrap it up in a towel lol hide it in your suitcase it will be fine!

    Ive sneaked alcohol into festivals..

ooo what you can do is you can get a plastic bottle of water and using a knife remove the lid without breaking the seal, then fill it full of vodka and press it back on! just buy coke all night and top it up with vodka! if they ever suspect it might be vodka they will soon give up when they notice the seal isnt broken

    tried and tested :D

  4. Being that you are 18 you need to be real careful about alcohol on board because you are technically underage and carnival no longer allows persons under the age of 21 to drink.

Personally I feel that if you are old enough to fight for our country then you are old enough to drink.  So all I can ask is that you do it safely.

There are 3 schools of thought on bringing alcohol onboard (Actually 4 but the 4th is that you shouldn't try to bring alcohol onboard because you can afford obscene alcohol prices if you can afford a cruise).

1 - Hide it good. This is the school I basically fall into, I say the better hidden the less likely it is that you will get caught. What we have done in the past is transfer vodka and rum into sealed bags like you get with Seal-a-meal or the vacume seal units that you can get at the store. Then we put those in second bags and stuff them inside the clothes. Since the liquid is in bags it is very difficult for them to detect it with the xray machines where as plastic bottles can be clearly seen in xrays. We have done this several times and have never had it detected. We have experimented with having the plstic bags in luggage with bottles of alcohol and have had the bottles removed while they did not find the plastic bags, this is primarily why we use this method. Once we get onboard we cut the bags open and pour their contents into water bottles and use it for the whole trip.

2 - Transfer to other bottles. This has already been suggested a few times. It does work but the cruise line does reserve the option to check your luggage, if they see the bottles that are obviously open they may open them and sniff the contents. If they do they will just take it out and give it back to you at the end of the cruise.

3 - Just pack the bottles. This has worked for other people as well, they just pack the bottles or boxes of alcohol in their luggage and trust to luck. We have heard from lots of people that they have done this with no problem, as far as having full boxes of wine in their luggage. It's the most likely to get caught, but on the same note it does not seem to happen as often as the cruise lines would leave you to believe.

So, using any method of sneeking alcohol onboard may work there is no guarantee. As has been stated by a few people, it is technically against the cruise contract and they could deny you boarding. I have never heard of someone being denied boarding for trying to sneek alcohol onboard, and logically it does not make sense that they would, while the cruise line makes some money from a passenger with their fare the real profit is in all of the extras that they charge once you get onboard, and since they took your secret stash you are more likely to spend even more.

  5. all they will do is take it from you...i went on a cruise this summer and we snuck all kinds of alcohol on and didn't get caught, we hide some and my finace just stuck the whole bottle of crown on and nothing was ever said! you are good to go especially if you hide it in different bottles! have fun!

  6. Spring Break?--- they WILL be looking for you. I packed a 12 pack of soda in my "checked" luggage, and they stopped my bag, and didn't deliver it to my room until I came down to open it and prove it was not booze. Royal Caribbean, Rhapsody out of Galveston 4/07. 30 bags were down there, so don't say they don't check..... HOWEVER, ship carry ons were barely checked at all. I had two water bottles in my carry on, and they never stopped anyone (the rush to board 2,000 passengers, you know...). I also heard the "strap a few plastic bottles with rope around your waist, and hanging between your knees and under a long skirt" boarding tip- no metal, you know.... Just remember, you need to consider what airlines will do with liquids if you fly to the ports, and then reconfigure for ship's boarding....

  7. I used to run singles cruises on Carnival alll the time, and 90% of my guests used to sneak alcohol on board (some were lushes, and that stuff gets expensive)  No one ever got caught, but if you do get caught they will take it from you. I would either put it in shoe boxes, or put it in plastic coke or sprite bottles.  beCareful though, you are only 18, and if you guys get too tipsy people can complain which may be verrry embarrassing! Have fun, but be responsible!
