Snipers Cruising cruises to victory in the 480m Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Trophy Final
Snipers Cruising cruised to victory in the 480 metres, Grade OR Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Trophy Final at Nottingham on Monday, January 16, 2012. The prize money of winning the event was £350.
There was a stiff competition between the top two runners, but Snipers Cruising ended up on top in the end. He has had some mixed performances over the past few races, and due to that, his starting price was 8 to 1.
However, the A J Grewcock trained dog showed some very good speed in the race, completing the total distance in 29.76 seconds, after breaking in from trap number two. Since the distance to cover was not much, the start was crucial for all the greyhounds.
Snipers Cruising gained very good momentum in the opening few seconds, and carried onto that till the end. He is the son of Crash out of Marilyn Mal and was born in May, 2009.
Ballymac Elite, who was considered to be fighting for victory, lived up to his reputation and ran pretty well. He was just 0.06 seconds adrift of the race winner, as he seemed to run out of gas towards the end of the race.
The second placed hound had a starting price of 2 to 1, and completed the race in 29.82 seconds, after breaking in from trap number five. He was trained by R Devenish, and is the son of Elite State out of Ballymac Em. He was born in September, 2009.
The race favourite, Ballymac Ramos, could not challenge the top two and finished third overall. His trainer B Draper would have been extremely disappointed with the outcome, as his hound had a starting price of 7 to 4.
Ballymac Ramos is the son of Green Heat out of Sterling Silver, and was born in July, 2009.
Fourth place went to Jurisdiction, trained by H J Dimmock. He completed the total distance in 30.08 seconds after breaking in from trap number four. His starting price was 11 to 2, and the bettors would not have been interested in putting money on
him.
Jurisdiction is the son of Westmead Hawk out of Have A Fit and was born in July, 2009.
The last two places went to Mullpark Nelson and Campbelltown, who covered the race distance in 30.22 and 30.32 seconds, respectively.
This race will earn some respect for Snipers Cruising, who did not have a good rate before it. However, the bettors will be more interested in investing money on him in future events.
