Question:

s****. Horse people in this section...?

I have tried to ignore this, but I just can't, it's way too hard! There are alot of poeple answering questions on this section who are acting really s****.! I have a couple people in mind (one in perticular), but I won't mention them.

They are acting like they know everything about horses, and riding. I was just reading a question, and was reading a few of the first answers, and there was an answer that I thought was really uncalled for! People are just insulting the questions, and, as I said before, acting like they know everything about horses, as if they are "the horse whisperer" and know exactly what horses want and are thinking. Or about riding too. Acting as if they are the perfect rider! I think that if you have something rude to say about someone's question, either don't say it at all, or brake it to them nicely.

This gets on my nerves SO much! My questions are; Have you read any answers by "snobs"? What do think about this?

Please, no rude comments about this, or me!

  1. Well that is true of just about any board and any place where people get to "talk" without actually being face to face. Anyone can pretend to be an expert and no-one can really say that they are not. I tend not to take too much notice as a rule - maybe I'm just too old and tired to care or maybe I take everything with a pinch of salt these days and sit back and watch the egos fluctuate. The ones I really dislike are the ones who give advice which is actually dangerous and could result in someone getting badly hurt, it's kind of scary and disappointing that someone could be so nasty as to come here to do that.

  2. That happend 2 me a few days ago! I had asked a question and someone put something SO unrelated to my question... cant stand it!

  3. 1st i hope its not me,      2nd I've known alot of horse people who have become expert overnight. Win a little ,get lucky and have a really good horse ,gives some people the big head.

i always say the only difference between ignorance and arrogance  IS THE SPELLING.

The only way to learn is to ask questions

  4. I have only been a member for a short time, but I do hope that I have not ever come across as a snob.  I read the questions when I get home from work and if I think that I can help, I answer to my best ability.  The cool thing about horses and horse people is, no one knows everything about the horse.  No matter who you are, or who you think you are, you can always learn something. It is likely that some body has had an experience that you have not. Horse people, generally, will give you all of the knowledge that they have gained on any given subject, so that maybe you won't have to fall and break your noggin, or get ran over or whatever...The folks who think that they know it all are unfortunate souls indeed.  They will never learn another thing, as they have closed their minds.  If they choose to be hateful as well, then they lose twice, as they will not ever get to meet a new friend.

  5. omg!!!  i know exactly what you are talking about!!!!!

for example, i asked a question about "Horse Photo Contests" and where i could enter pictures.

    This is how _ I _ _ O    _ _ N _    _ A _  <--- Fill in the letters

    started by answering my question!!!!!

"oh look lazy what i found on google"

We should start making a list of those "s****. horse people" so they know who they are and realize how stupid they are!!!!  NO ONE KNOWS EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

    so...who's with me?

p.s. and wow...to top things off, look at this question my sister answered...

    "Trotting in English proper diagonals?"

She won the question as best answer but people gave her 3 thumbs down.  People get really greedy when it comes to points!!!!!

  6. I hear ya!

Snobs are up there with the

"Ummmm idk ask someone who knows alot about horses"

    people

If I have ever been a snob I hope someone would tell me!

Theres a quality called humility. We all don't use it all the time but it's important to keep things in perspective.

  7. Ok, its happened to me twice, by the same person, and this person isn't even 15! I got a little frustrated, but then, I realized that they are only doing it to try to be a know-it-all, and let them! They're only hurting themselves.

  8. Heck I can be rude in questions but I apologize about it and say sorry alot in my answer because I dont want to be rude but the only way to break it is to be rude. Lol god I hope its not me because I sometimes act like I know everything about horses but I know I dont just how my attitude comes out. I even put in my profile sorry in advance for it lol. I dont like to tell people what to do but when it comes to "special" questions like that one I talked about yesterday about that girl riding her horse at 1 and training it is when I get really rude and wont really apologize.

So sorry if I ever offended anyone in a question didnt mean too!

**Edit*** My Knowledge went into horse Sense and training, I absolutley know nothing about Diseases and Medication, well only on common diseases and such. So see I love horses but dont know everything!

  9. I've noticed this seems to be a plague on all sections.

I just got done chewing out a "Jewish Lawyer" for basically insutling a fourteen-year-old kid's entire family.  Pissed me off.

  10. I liked reading your personal thoughts on this. I can always rely on my horses to take the snob out of me....

Leading into another question. Is anyone getting addicted to answering questions.... getting worried here, I need to do my house work. I guess come spring I'll be too busy outside with my horses and that will cure me.

  11. I hope it's not me! Anyway, I don't see a problem with s****. answerers, I see the problem with s****. askers. I saw one person ask: "Help I'm getting a horse tomorrow and I know nothing about them." I mean, WTF? Why would you buy something you had no idea about?! I've also seen people saying: "I'm interested in getting this horse:___I'm an expert rider, BTW." and post a link to a $10K expert-rider-only horse. When asked about their "expert riding abilities", they answer that they just learned how to trot and they can keep posting for a few minutes. When told that they are actually beginners, and that experts are solid at the walk, trot, canter, possibly gallop, and can jump 3 1/2 ft. +, they tell everyone that they are experts and everyone is being mean. I also hate it when people post a picture of an olympic jumping horse & rider and say that that's them and their horse. It annoys me soooo much!

  12. We have horses most my life and I'm 45, i do not nor do i think i will every know everything.  I have never spent time reading the answers to others questions but i have gotten some really good advise here...I find most her have knowledge in one area or the other and havent run into snobs...With anything tho you have to take the good with the bad, ignore those who treat your question badly...Look for those answers that will help you...Dont worry about what other type as long as you get the answer you seek.

  13. I get a few responses to questions like that & I hate it...

I apologize to anybody if I come across as s****., feel free to send me a message or w/e. (just kick me in the face, I'll stop.)

  14. Hi,

Well you probably think I'm a snob.  Lol.. I don't know.  Horse people are like this in person as well! Meaning that they think they know everything and are experts!  Horse people have strong opinions on any matter but so does everyone else.  Just take everything with a grain of sand.  Just like everything you ask a million riders about the best way to do ride and you will get a million different answers.  I don't know if I am one of these snobs but I don't mind... People can call me as they please...

Just remember the people who are asking the questions asked for advise and they sure as heck get it don't they! lol...

Just remember that everyone can act like a snob, some more than others.

    Hope I helped!

  15. UH *stops foot* *sigh*

Yeah. I hear ya there. I have been dealing with horses all my life(riding, training, showing), and the one thing I do know about horses. NO ONE knows it all. I agree, if you are going to bust someones B@#'s about a question, do it with some class and dignity. Or make a joke about it that everyone can laugh at. I say ''REVOLUTION'' twards s****. answering-type-people. There is a saying there is no stupid answer. There are many questions on here that I can help on, but one of two things happens; someone else has beat me to it, or, I can not express or explain over the internet on how to help them. So c'mon folks, lets keep some decency on this. What'd y'all say?

  16. i hate snobs

  17. YES! this annoys me so bad as well i feel sick. like i could throw up. but unfortunatley there are some people out there like that.

Please people make the world a nicer place, BE NICE!

  18. I completely agree, and not just for this section. There will be a question with a pic asking whether the person is pretty or not, and if I am opposed, I just don't answer. I feel like there are tons of s****. horse people in the real world, and it stinks. You are not alone!!! :)

  19. I actually enjoy the s****. answers instead of being insulted I have come to view it as comic relief. Not everyone knows it all as I have read but even a snob can point out a few things that may be helpful. People of different financial or ethnic backgrounds own horses and all have different views and sometimes one of those views no matter how sarcastic or s****. it may be could be helpful depending on the needs of the horse. So please lets look at the content of the information and ignore the attitude that comes with it.

  20. Theres either people who know nothing who think they know everything or people who know alot and cant stand people making mistakes.

I've made alot of mistakes with horses and hate seeing others do the same. h**l, i'm stern when it comes to horses. Hate seeing people get pushed around by horses or getting scammed.

Every money making buisness is going to have it's snobs.

  21. Yea, I have noticed some answers like that... I guess i just try to ignor them... lol.. sometimes my friends  act like that and they act all cool and think they're so smart and then they'll say something and its wrong and they get soo embarressed... i wish it happend to ppl like that more often, but.. i guess we just have to learn how to deal with it.. at least we still have some nice horse ppl to tho... well anyway.. i don't think there is much we can do about it.. so i'll just let them have their fun and hopefully be around when they make another mistake.. lol..

  22. You are taking the whole "Yahoo Answers" experience to personally.

Don't think of it as a place to share knowledge and get advise.  Think of it like the monkey cage at the zoo:  Kinda fun, but the c**p piles up quick.

All you can do is shrug it off and try to dodge the flying monkey poo.

    EDIT TO ADD:

Remember, these people ASKED for advise.  They put their business out there for all the world to comment on.  If they didn't want to deal with idiots, they should have called their vet, or a trainer, or a farrier, or their mothers.  If you open your life to strangers, expect what you get: Criticism and cruelty.

  23. What bothers me most is when I ask a question because I need help and people answer by saying that I DON'T need help. I asked some questions about how much it would cost to take care of my horse, and some people said that judging from his initial cost, I didn't need to worry about expenses. Nobody knows everything, and all it takes is "i'm not sure" or "this isn't something I have much experience in".

  24. I try not to be a 'snob'...but I have gotten very cranky with a few.  Especially if they are behaving like 'brat.'  I'm a parent...it comes with the territory.  I won't tolerate that behavior out of my own...without calling them on it...and I will do the same to a stranger.

One of my biggest gripes is ones who spout uneducated or uninformed drivel.  I will respond just as 'snotty' as they do...sometimes.  Sometimes I just ignore them...as it is pointless to argue with a brick wall.

Does that make me s****.??  Or b*tchy??

I'm still learning...that's why I ask questions sometimes.  But I still think that someone who is getting a horse the very next day...and has 'no clue' about them...SHOULD NOT BE GETTING A HORSE!  I will not apologize for that opinion.

Some that go off the handle here...I've seen and heard what has happened to make them that way.  Others...I think are just mean and snotty people...looking to attack...no matter what question is being asked.

I don't like the howrse questions...and I don't care who knows it.  It is a GAME...that's all.  And it annoys me to see them.  But that's just my opinion...and isn't that what this board is for?  Opinions from all over the world.

Anyways...I think some of the insults are uncalled for.  I've seen a few that have no class...or are downright mean.  I don't like judgmental answers or questions either.

But occasionally I seem to fit the same bill.  Even though I try to answer like I would like to be answered too...if I feel strong enough about something...I come across as mean too.

Hurting someone's feelings just because you are 'better than them' is wrong...not to mention, delusional on the part of the 'expert!'

**EDIT to cece...hahaha!!!  Welcome to y/a!!  Have patience...the dust bunnies won't take over completely!  You'll find that the questions eventually start repeating themselves...and then you stand a chance of getting something else done!  Until you realize you are SO CLOSE to the next level...then the addiction comes back strong!  It does get easier to walk away...only took me 4 or 5 months!!!  hahaha!!!

  25. Yeah I know what you mean, but you've just got to learn not to take it on board or be affected by it. just keep in mind that there is a whole lot of nonsense people out there who think they know it all...i live with three of them....but just realize that the information is rubbish the people are rude and either thumb them down or red dot them...at the end of the day this is the internet and the free world, so those two things joined as one mean people can pretty much express themselves and all facets of their perceived intelligence

  26. I hate people like that. There is this one chick that tells me what to do with my horses all the flippin' time, and it makes me sooo mad. It pisses me off soooooo much. To think you are all high and mighty is ridiculous, and sometimes they do almost everything wrong. I think it's retarded.

  27. lol, I hate it too, but its something you just have to shrug at. I particulary hate the western vs. english debate. They're two different things, and one is not better than the other!

I hate people who are offensive, unduly so, and don't answer the question at all.

  28. I have only been a member a couple of days so I haven't experienced anything yet... and i hope i don't... but some people put down really weird answers, that are sometimes really inappropriate...

    hope everything gets better

  29. Some times you don't know what was said. Or if they Emailed those people. I have had poopy little girls E mail me & try to make me mad. I posted the Email, so everyone can see what a brat they are. That is a part of the YA, I think you have to choose your battles. O'well red dot them & move on. I think I have like 50 red dotted! LOL Just keep on truckin'!!!!
