  1. it's very difficult, and you'll probably go through a few tips. If the cue is of any value to you I wouldn't use it.

  2. of course you can play. its just not a good idea. the idea of a pool cue is that its much thicker and gets lots more power behind. your taking a risk if you do use it! though why not just borrow a pool cue? or even buy a cheap one?

  3. Because the balls are bigger than in snooker you will need a tip with a larger surface area for cue ball control....you can use a small tip without too much damage but your overall gameplay would be improved by using a pool cue.

  4. as a regular 2 a pool club in my town and a world league player (not blowing my own trumpet) i claim that: as the standard ball off a 9 ball table is larger that those off an 8 ball table.. the thicker tip is of more effect as the thinner tip will cause too much s***w force and result in too much backspin/forwardspin/sidespin.

However: a more experienced player will learn to control the '9 ball balls' with a thin tip to a great extent and will therefore have the advantage in the positon/power field.

but in summation.. ..until this highly valued technique is mastered, i suggest the average player sticks with the large tip.

now i am out of breath

    athanku.

  5. As far as damage prob not-I have a John Paris I shot with for the first time last week it was strong enough but not the best choice for pool I play Snooker with my reg pool cue

The Snooker cue was a gift -The only reason I have it

I ask a question about the quality of snooker cues and didn't get 1 ans I hope you get better ones than I got --Later

  6. You can play the pool shot's like a snooker player and the cue will not be damaged.

But eventually you'll see how pool is played faster and with more power. Trick shots are part of normal play, with extreme spin put on the cue ball. To do this you'll need a pool cue. Which is thicker in the middle to prevent bending, heavier for more power, and bigger tips for better control.

If you take your snooker cue, you'll beat all the pool hacks. But to beat the good player's you'll have to dump your snooker cue and snooker ideas and make that cue ball 'sit up and beg'.

  7. There really are no inherent dangers to playing pool with a snooker cue or vice versa. I don't know why Scratch Golfer thinks it will wear out the tip faster, but that should not be a problem. There is virtually no chance you will damage your cue in any way playing pool.
