Caesars Casino Snooker Shootout: The blistering snooker shootout event has been sponsored by the Caesarscasino.com and will be now known as Caesarscasino.com Snooker Shootout. The event will take place at the Circus Arena, from 28-30 January,
2011.
The tournament is based on an innovative format and has been made part of the snooker calendar for the first time. It is a one-frame knockout event and each frame can last for a maximum of 10 minutes, which will make the game faster than ever.
World’s top-64 players will battle for the £32,000 prize money in Caesarscasino.com Snooker Shootout. All these positive innovations are a result of Barry Hearn’s efforts to revamp the sport.
After signing the sponsor deal, Barry said, “We are glad to bring Caesar casino on board which is a globally recognized on-line gaming firm, to become partners for the three days of fantastic and frenetic snooker.”
The event is significant in a sense that it will be televised on Sky Sports, which is a great sign for the growing sport.
Snooker special challenge: Interestingly, a duo of the Blackpool footballers tried their hands on the snooker table recently and joined Shaun Murphy and Ricky Walden in a special snooker challenge.
Charlie Adam and Dudley Junior Campbell of Blackpool alongside Shaun and Ricky were joined by hundreds of college students on a road show organised by the Paul Hunter Foundation. This snooker special challenge also promoted the upcoming Caesarscasino.com
Snooker Shootout.
The special challenge event will be featuring on ESPN prior to the Manchester United and Blackpool match scheduled for the fourth week of January 2011.
Doctor of the East: Dr Khizar Raoof is an Indian professional doctor and a decent snooker player. The doctor however, is taking a one-year leave from his profession to pursue his dream to play against the top cueists.
The 26-year-old has entered the Q school, as the Q school event will take place in the month of May 2011, and will have 12 places for 2012’s professional circuit up for grabs. The state champion from Hyderabad hopes to win a place in the professional circuit
and play against the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Higgins, Mark Williams and other top cueists.
Doctor Raoof has always dreamt of becoming a professional snooker player but went to the medical school instead, and ended up being a doctor. However, the dream is still alive and state number 1 hopes to grab a place in the professional tour soon.
