Snooker Tournament Preview: 2012 China Open at Beijing University Students Gymnasium – Part 2
Chinese snooker fans will be present at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium to watch their favourite potters in action. The 2012 China Open will feature some stunning clashes as the line up contains former World Snooker Champions including Neil Robertson,
John Higgins, Stephen Hendry, Graeme Dott, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Shaun Murphy and Mark Williams.
Second Quarter
The second quarter line up of the event comprises of Scotland’s Stephen Maguire, the 2012 Snooker Shootout winner Barry Hawkins, the 2012 Haikou World Open winner Mark Allen, the former Shanghai Masters winner Ricky Walden, the former World Snooker Champions
Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams and Scotland’s Marcus Campbell.
The first match of the second quarter is scheduled between Scotland’s Stephen Maguire and the Snooker Shootout winner Barry Hawkins. The match up seems a tough encounter as both potters are two of the best snooker performers of the snooker world. The pair
has been in good form in the current snooker season.
Maguire’s performance in the running season is quite convincing as he stormed into the advance stages of many snooker tournaments. The Scotsman clinched the 2012 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 12 and reached the final encounter of 2012 German Masters
snooker tournament against Ronnie O’Sullivan where he lost by the score line of 7-9.
On the other hand, Hawkins played brilliantly in the second half of the season as he hit the final stages of many minor ranking events. The only success he achieved was the title of 2012 Snooker Shootout where he defeated the former World Snooker Championship
winner, Scotland’s Graeme Dott. Currently he is on top of his performance and can challenge Maguire.
The first round clash between Mark Allen and Ricky Walden is definitely going to be one of the most thrilling clashes of the tournament because Allen has proved his class during his run in the season. The Northern Irishman made his way into the final contest
of 2011 UK Championship against Judd Trump where he lost by the score line of 10-8.
Walden, on the other hand, has been a consistent potter throughout the season with some impressive campaigns. Despite the fact that he was not able to win any major tournament but still he managed to surge into the forward stages of the competitions which
added to his winning percentage in the circuit. Both Allen and Walden have played against each other quite a few times during their careers. They faced each other in three clashes where the Northern Irishman was victorious in all three matches.
The participation of the former three-time World Snooker Champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan is a bit doubtful because the Rocket has been suffering from glandular fever and already pulled out of the 2012 Haikou World Open and the 2011-12 PTC Grand finals. Meanwhile,
the Welshman Mark Williams will meet the winner of third wild card match between Fergal O’Brien and Jin Long.
