Snooker Tournament Preview: 2012 China Open at Beijing University Students Gymnasium – Part 3
England’s Judd Trump is all set to defend his title which he claimed last year after beating the World Number one, compatriot Mark Selby by a close score line of 10-8 and added first major ranking title to his career. The youngster will be looking to work
really hard to be able to defend the title because many big guns of snooker are looking forward to challenge him in the event.
These potters include Mark Selby, the 2012 Welsh Open winner China’s Ding Junhui, the former World Snooker Champion from England, Shaun Murphy, John Higgins and Ronnie O’Sullivan, if he can make it to the tournament.
Third Quarter
Just like other quarters in the line-up of 2012 China Open snooker tournament, the third quarter also contains a couple of major players who are ready to take on the challengers and hit the winning spot. These top dogs include the World Number one Mark Selby,
the 2012 Welsh Open Champion Ding Junhui, the former World Champion Shaun Murphy and Ali Carter.
All these cuemen definitely has the spark to win any major title beating any challenger. The defending champion Judd Trump must be keeping all situations in mind to tackle during his run.
The 28-year-old Mark Selby will begin his Chinese event campaign playing against the winner of fourth match of wild card round. The fourth wild card round game will be played between England’s Michael Holt and China’s Li Hang. The winner will meet Selby
in the forts round of the tournament at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium.
The Jester from Leicester is currently performing outstandingly in the recent snooker season. He began his season campaign with a classic victory in the 2011 Wuxi Classic and continued his dominance in the 2011 Shanghai Masters which placed him on Number
one spot.
Since then, the Englishman has retained his current form and his position in the rankings. He is undoubtedly the hot favourite for the title and of course he will have local support too because he has clinched two snooker events in China. His initial match
might get a bit tough if Holt gets through the wild card round.
The first half of the 2011-12 Snooker Season was not so good for the local hero, Ding Junhui but definitely all Chinese eyes will be watching him with hopes that he will be able to keep the Chinese glory home with his stunning performance.
The Chinese Sensation hit back into this impressive form after he took the 2012 Welsh Open and has been playing pretty well so far. He can surely challenge Trump for the China Open title and he will have the local voices behind him too which is a major psychological
advantage for him.
England’s Ali Carter and Shaun Murphy are scheduled in a potential second round clash which will decide about their luck. However, they are certainly two of the favourites and can turn the tables in no time.
