Snooker chief Barry Hearn aims to produce millionaires out of game – Snooker News
Snooker was considered as one of the slow and time consuming games across the world but after Barry Hearn joined World Snooker in 2009, the face of the game changed with his drastic initiatives and now snooker has become one of the most watched sports in
the world. The snooker boss is not done yet as he is aiming to produce millionaires out of the game.
With Hearn’s steps to promote the game, snooker emerged as one of the most successful games and has played an important role in the economy of Sheffield and many other cities. Hearn has improved the game terrifically due to which the sport has attracted
many sponsors across the world that is supporting all major and minor ranking events around the world.
The chief took the game of snooker to other continents also rather than just Europe and now it is one of the major games of many nations including Brazil, China, India, Pakistan, Australia and Thailand. Hearn introduced many new snooker events in other parts
of the world where snooker was not recognised as a major sport. This innovation has brought more money into the game and given the players a chance to become millionaires.
Speaking to the media, Hearn said about his aim, “We're going to make everybody millionaires. This is the year that snooker went back to work. These kids, these boys, these men, are playing better than they've ever played before. In the year that we're trying
to get the country back to work, snooker is leading the way.”
The snooker boss added, “The only way to get around these problems, whether it's a national or a sporting problem, is to graft, to go to work. You cure a recession easily if you start an hour earlier and finish an hour later. It's not rocket science.”
Hearn is aiming to make snooker one of the top games in the world and he has taken many initiatives for this purpose. He changed the formats of many major snooker events to make them interesting so that the young generation could be dragged to the arenas
to watch the game. He has faced a lot of criticism after making these changes but still he is standing on his actions.
