Snooker is becoming my top priority, says Shaun Murphy: 2012-13 Snooker Season
Snooker supervising body across the globe, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) is doing their best to promote the game of snooker and the world is now familiar with the game. Snooker is now one of the most watched games across the
world and World Snooker is expecting that the game will prosper more in the upcoming years.
Many snooker players are getting serious about the game and taking it as a profession. Some years back the game was played as part time sport but as the association promoted the game and it got more money in it, the players took it as a permanent profession.
Right now, the potters are earning a lot of money playing in many major and minor ranking snooker events.
Former World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Shaun Murphy started his career in 1998 and had a tremendous beginning but during his 2004-2005 Snooker Season, he was finding some other job because he was participating in the season just for the sake
of playing. However, he is now taken the game seriously and gives prime priority to the sport.
While speaking to Pro Snooker Blog in his interview, Murphy said, “A couple of weeks before I won the world title, I effectively gave up snooker and went to get a job because I felt like I had kidded myself on for too long and I didn’t feel like I was getting
anywhere. I only played in the World Championship because I had paid my entry fee and I went ahead and won it.”
He added, “It’s becoming joint top priority now for me because I think that snooker is becoming such a big game and so popular to so many that it is giving an opportunity of a very good livelihood to the players.”
He has started his 2012-13 Snooker Season campaign with some impressive run in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event and the 2012 Six-Red World Championship. He is aiming to make it better finish for him in the season. He will be heading to China
soon to take part in the 2012 Shanghai Masters snooker tournament in September.
