i am going on a short cruise to nassau and want to make the most of my time the carnival sensation that i am going on offers a scuba discovery class but you only dive for an hour twenty foot below at a shipwreck i think but there not cleat and you spend thiry minutes learning and you do something else for an hour - stuart cove offers a snorkel adventure where you snorkel at a shipwreck a reef and then over a buch of sharks it is a lot cheaper and lasts a lot longer I LOVE marine animals and want to have the best most memorable time

  1. Scuba diving is a great experience. You would enjoy the Discover Scuba class. You are actually there with marine animals and can get up close and personal if they will let you.

Snorkeling can be a great time too. You don't have as much equipment to worry about and you can do it anywhere.

You mentioned wanting it to be memorable. Well what could be more memorable that telling people about your first time diving and you got to do it in Nassau on a wreck in warm water.

Me personally I would go for the diving, but I love diving and do it year round in good and bad conditions. My vacations are planned around diving.

If you just want to see as much as you can then try the snorkeling since it lasts longer. It's harder work but less technical.

Good luck and enjoy your cruise

  2. Snorkeling.  You actually get to use more muscles, but your underwater "freedom" is limited by how long you can hold your breath.  And...you can take fins, mask and snorkel anywhere.  Try lugging around air tanks! btw...have you ever been swimming before?  If not, take lessons!  I was born and raised in Florida, and always went snorkeling.  Primary reason is that SCUBA lessons were expensive and so was the gear.  You should be able to rent the swim fins, snorkel, and mask from Stuart Cove.  If you've the time, practice in a pool.  DON'T forget to wear a white T-shirt when you're snorkeling...you can lose track of time while you're on the surface and you can get a severe sunburn.  Also, get some "waterproof" sunblock.  Zinc Oxide for the nose.  And a "waterproof" (water resistant) disposable camera.  Have fun!

  3. I recently went to Cozumel, Mexico, and participated in several snorkeling excursions. If you are already SCUBA certified, go SCUBA diving. If not, stick with snorkeling. I had a blast.
