Snorkeling in Mazatlan?

I'm reading that snorkeling is not good. I'm a little disappointed. Is there an area that we could drive to that has good snorkeling? We would be able to rent a car. Thanks in Advance!

You don't need to rent a car.For good snorkeling  and diving you need to go to Isla de los Venados (Deer Island) It is a realitively deserted strip with good diving and snorkeling,not to mention beautiful beaches.Catch a catamaran from the Agua Sports Center at  El Cid Resort in the Zona Dorada.Bring your own sunsreen, food and water if you intend to spend some time there.

Last time I was there the boats departed at 10am,Noon,& 2pm

and it was 100 pesos or about US$10round trip.
