Snorkeling question?

I'm going to the Bahamas, Grand Turks, and Half Moon Cay, and Nassau, and my question is: Do I need water shoes to keep from cutting my feet when I snorkel in any of these places? Don't they usually rent you fins for snorkeling gear?

iv just bought too pairs of water shoes on eBay for £4.99 each.I'm going to Dunn's river falls that why iv bought mine,I'm all going snorkeling at string ray city,they provide the snorkel gear but not the shoes,its worth the investment,

When i went on snorkeling boat rides, they included fins, mask, life vest,  and snorkel, but i had my own mask and snorkel.  They also instruct you to do all you can not to kick the corals, because a little damage from fins, or also people who break off a piece as a souvenir, takes many years to grow and coral reefs are a beautiful treasure that should be carefully preserved.

You might want to wear those neoprene water shoes, but not to step on the coral reefs.  You can also use a flotation vest to keep you afloat, and that helps keep your feet from hitting the corals.  One more thing: strong waves and coral or rocks covered with barnacles don't mix.  The waves can slam you into the rocks and cut you pretty bad.

yeah every time I have gone snorkeling in the Caribbean, there has always been a little place nearby that you can rent fins, snorkel, and mask so I would say nah, you dont need water shoes b/c you'll be wearing the fins

buy them just incase they are like 10 bucks, you WILL use them when you are not snorkling

I would suggest buying water shoes.  Some beaches do have sharp pieces of dead coral that can be hard on the feet.

Fins do come with the rental gear.  I take my own mask and snorkel.  Personally, I do not like using snorkels that have been in other people's mouths - even though they are sanitized in bleach.

The water shoes are about $9 and are sometimes useful.
