winter weather system that began moving into parts of southwestern Ontario Tuesday afternoon is expected to leave behind slushy roads, freezing temperatures and upwards of 50 cm of snow in parts of the region.

The weather is also being blamed for a series of traffic pileups on highways, including an accident on Highway 403 involving three tractor trailers and five passenger vehicles.

In anticipation of the worsening weather, all schools in Hamilton, as well as those with the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board announced they will be closed Wednesday.
