Snow Fairy leaves the Leger Marvel and the Arc Force behind to win the third position at the Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe at Longchamp
Snow Fairy has become a delight for her connections after coming third at the Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe at Longchamp on 2nd October with P Schiergen’s Danedream and the runner up for the race being A De Royer-Dupre's Shareta.
Ed Dunlop’s Snow Fairy raced under Frankie Dettori that day. She held up in midfield, pushed along over three furlong out, ridden and headway over one furlong out and kept grip on the pace even though the leading pair was far out of reach by then and the
only position left for Snow Fairy to target was the third thus she finished third in line.
Her jockey Frankie Dettori said: "She ran a super race. A furlong and a half out I thought we had a big chance, but when the winner kicked that was that”.
Dunlop added: "I'm very proud to be third in an Arc, it was a great run and she was the leading older horse in the race. It was probably the race of her life. We ran with a view to coming from off the pace and I was delighted with her effort”.
Instead of being heart broken or complaining about the race, Snow Fairy’s connections are really proud of her performance and are not grumbling over the issue of not winning the race rather they are not even considering it as an issue. So rightly it is said
that participation and sense of sportsmanship is way more important than winning the match, race or for that sake any event.
None can stay oblivious of the fact that it was a tough one for Snow Fairy and she did not win it effortlessly as the track was talent packed with three entries representing A P O’Brien and it also witnessed the attendance of the St Leger winner team of
Masked Marvel and the last year’s Arc title winner.
A P O’Brien’s So You Think crossed the wire right after Snow Fairy which in itself was one of the credible achievements by the filly besides countering the competition and managing the third ranking in the challenging race.
This was Snow Fairy’s most outstanding accomplishment till yet. She has run four times this season and did not win any of the races but did come second twice, first at Goodwood and then at Leopardstown both with Frankie Dettori. Coming third at the Arc has
opened new doors for the filly and will favourably impact the status of her future races and performances.
