Snow Fairy retired after illustrious career – Horseracing news
Snow Fairy has been retired after winning some great races for her camp and entertaining her fans across the globe.
The six-year-old mare started off her career back in 2009 and was unable to make a strong impression back then. She only managed to win a single race and kept on trying hard to challenger her rivals in the other competitions.
However, things started getting better for the talented mare, who trained hard to deliver strong results during her second season. 2010 was the best season she had in her career and her camp was really rewarded for the hard work over the season break.
The Irish challenger managed to win five races that year and it seemed that no one would manage to stop her in the coming years. Despite that, she failed to carry on the same winning momentum and her form dipped to some extent. She continued fighting for
victories, but the strike rate fell down overall.
Snow Fairy took part in a total of 21 races throughout her career, winning eight of them. Moreover, she finished as a runner up and in third place four times each, which confirmed that she had the speed to challenge her rivals for top positions with consistency.
Unfortunately, she picked up an injury last year and failed to recover from it, which resulted in her retirement.
Trainer Ed Dunlop revealed the news by saying, “It is with much sadness that a decision was made this morning to retire Snow Fairy. Unfortunately after a routine piece of fast work today she was found to have re-injured her near fore tendon, which has caused
her problems in the last two years. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Mrs Patino (owner) for all she has done.”
He added, “Most owners would have retired her a lot sooner than she did and if this had been the case she would not have won the Irish Champion Stakes last year, which was without doubt her greatest performance.”
Snow Fairy’s last race saw her deliver a positive result for her team, as she finished on op comfortably despite not being rated as the favourite to succeed.
