  1. I would suggest planning a trip around August September as that is usually the best time as it is not school holidays but it is the peak season for those two months usually have the highest snowfall.

There is varying on and off snow accommodation at all the resorts. Thredbo has a village atmosphere with a great nightlife and great restaurants. Perisher does also but it is more spread out and sometimes requires over snow transport to get from lodge to lodge as well as the lifts.

Alternately there is Jindabyne which is a short drive and is cheaper but is off snow and has various places to party restaurant etc.

Your accommodation at all places range from group through to apartments and some hotel style accommodation. It depends on what you are actually after. I have stayed regularly at both. But if there is a lack of snow Perisher is better if there is alot then I recommend Thredbo. But again it also depends on what you are after. A relaxing place for dinner and an apres setting or hard core skiing or a mixture of both.

If all else fails and there is no snow then go to New Zealand. It is the cheapest of the lot.

Through the website below you can access both resorts. Maybe I'll see you on the slopes.

  2. june long weekend is almost always the opening days. although this year people have predicted alot of snow for the start of may so they was talk of opening it earlier. hope i helped.

  3. Many come to New Zealand where there are many more options! eg Mount Hutt, Mt Ruapehu, Cadrona, Treble Cone, etc plus manymore

  4. Runs from June to October.Best months July, August. You can stay at Perisher where you are right on the snowfields.Thredbo you are at the snow but have to take chair lift to ski, or Jindabyne where you need to drive to the skiing. It all depends on what you wish to pay as the closer you are the more expensive it is.A lot of the Chalets / Lodges offer weekend specials including ski hire ,T bar and lift tickets. The closer you are the more atmosphere you will get there is nothing better than after a days skiing/falling over ,sitting by the fire with a good drink watching the snowfields at night. From another Sydneysider

  5. The Australian ski season goes from June to October, but i wouldnt suggest going unless there has been some decent snow falls, otherwise its as if your playing in nothing.

In NSW there is Perisher Blue & Thredbo ski resorts, both very popular. If you wish to travel out of NSW then you can look at places in victoria, such as falls creek or Mt Buller.

Thredbo is said to be " Australia's number one ski resort" however personally i havent been there.

the value packages i have pasted below for thredbo, allowing you to see what they have to offer and prices etc.

Going to the snow is a great idea!

i hope you have enormous amounts of fun
