Snow Ski sizes?

I am looking for skis, but I don't know what I need.

I'm 5'10", about 155-160 lbs, I wear a size 12-13 shoe.

I am fairly new to skiing so any help on skiing would be great also.

  1. A ski length of 160 to 175 cm would probably be fine for you to learn with.  Your ability and the ski model will be critical for you to learn and improve. A ski will perform differently depending on how it is tuned (Edges sharpened, base bevel, side bevel, and wax).  Different height and weight is not as important as your skill level.  Enjoy the sport.

  2. I am about the same size as you and ride 171cm skis.

skis should generally be around eye level.  skis between 160cm and 170cm would be right for you.

It is very important that your boots fit right.  You should get your boots fitted by an experienced ski boot technition.

  3. you should probably ski on a 170 cm ski.  No less than 168 no more than 175.   As far as buying new equipment skis should come a distant second to buying quality boots.  Boots that fit right and offer control make just about any ski skiable.

Go to a ski shop that has expert boot fitters and get sized and custom fitted.  This will make you ski experience WAY better than ill fitting boots with the cool new skis.
