  8. You don't necessarily need snow boots for skiing, especially white ones.  If they are light or white, they will get very dirty very fast.  I just wear sneakers when walking from my car to the lodge.  If you are concerned about your socks getting wet, then change them, because you arent supposed to ski in the same socks you wear on the way to skiing, regardless of whether or not is is a technical ski sock.  Even if your socks dont get wet from walking outside, there is still moisture from your foot perspiring.  You want to reduce as much moisture as possible, even though your feet will prespire when  you are skiing.

The boots like the one in the picture shouldn't be worn on the way to and from skiing if you want them to stay looking nice.  the faux fur and overall light color isnt good for the muddy conditions for a ski parking lot.  Parking lots at ski areas and resorts usually arent snowy, but they usually are muddy and icy.

Ive seen boots like those, actually the exact space boots, and for the first time, I saw a guy wearing them today -- yes, a middle aged man. I see them at ski stores everywhere your local ski store might have them or they might have them at the ski shop at the mountain you will be going to.

If you are concerned about needing snow boots for skiing, then don't be.  Just wear what is practical. I skied every other day this past week and wore my regular winter boots because I expected it to be muddy and i knew that they are easy to clean.

Usually I wear ugly black leather sneakers that I only have because I needed them for a cooking class and they are mostly water proof. I only ski with a technical ski sock, and I recommend it, but if you don't ski that often then it isn't worth it to buy an $18 pair of socks. I ski 2-3 times per week, and people usually their ugly sneakers or snow boots that dirt doesnt stick to easily because they dont want to mess up their good shoes.

The point of this answer is a warning that ski parking lots are dirty and if you wear new boots that you love, be aware that they will get dirty.
