  1. i use turtle fur.  i think that's the name of the company but it's amazing.  They come in regular or full head and they're extremely soft.

  2. i have one made by serius found it at sporting goods store its a fleece scarf but than this other meterial goes over my face

  3. Fleece ones are alright, but I saw a polypro one with a gore-tex outer that would be superb. For the life of me I can't remember the brand but it was a popular and well-known one. I want to say Polartec but I don't think it was, most of their stuff is fleece.

  4. I use a full face balaclava for winter mountaineering and have been out regularilly in minus 18c wind chill etc  I have 2 types, a fleec one which does let wind in slightly but just gets warmer the more iced up it gets! and the other one I use is a north face model with gortex windstopper that also works wel. The downside with the gortex windstopper is that the windproof membrane also covers your ears, so it does cut out a lot of sound making hearing a bit harder when talking ( or shouting in high winds).

At the end of the day any balaclava will give you the added protection you need but those made from silk or Helly Hansen types are not as good.

    Hope this helps.
