Question:

Snowboard Scratches and scrapes help?

So I took my new board up a local mountain today. A lot of the snow has melted, so we could only find a small hill that was a bit rocky at the top. (There aren't any lifts or ropetows) We got done, and I checked my base and I got some scrapes and one really bad scratch.

So I'm thinking that the scrapes should be able to fix with wax, but the scratch I got is kind of deep and pretty long. So basically my questions are:

Will a good wax fix it up and will it even mess my ride up that bad?

Oh and if it helps, I have a Burton Elite.

  1. You can use a P tex candle.  Make sure to clean the candle and board and burn it as close to the base as possible.  It will be more uniform this way.  And the color of the flame from the stick should be blue.  Once the damaged area is filled, let it cool and shave it flat with a scraper.  Waxing might help but it wouldn't help a deep scratch.  It wouldn't hurt at all though.

  2. If you don't want to fill it in yourself, any ski shop can do a P-Tex repair.  Don't fill it with wax.  They have to get all the wax OUT of it and clean it with solvent to remove all traces of wax to effect a good P-tex repair.  Will be good as new after they do.
