  1. Homewood, about 15 miles south of Squaw Valley is a great place. It never gets crowded there, so there is always room for beginners, and they have some nice easy trails to start on, plus instructors to help. Also Squaw Valley is nice. They are running a deal for their snowboarding classes $25 gets you an instructor, equiptment, and beginner lift ticket. Both of these resorts are on the west side of the lake just south of Truckee.

  2. If you are beginners, I would suggest Boreal (cheap, not a big mountain), Diamond Peak (a great bunny hill to learn on), or Alpine Meadows (endless Green/easy and Blue/intermediate runs and great lifts). There is also Mt. Rose closest to Reno that has good mid week discounts and a snow escalator to ride to the top of the learning hill.

Heavenly is nice, but it is expensive and there are mostly more difficult intermediate and advanced runs.

    Good Luck

  3. heavenly for sure...lots of beginner/intermediate terrain...some of the other resorts are more geared towards advanced skiiers

  4. heavenly is a nice place.  it is in south shore.  It is more of a drive than resorts on the north shore.  But heavenly offers a lot!
