Question:

Snowboard boots?

I used to live in Ohio and go snowboarding alot. I now live in Florida and I haven't been on the slopes for 3 years. I am going out west in a few weeks and I got out all of my old gear. When I tried my boots I realized they were way too small. I ordered a new pair K2 Luna's off the internet in a size bigger - I got a size 6 since that is what I wear in tennis shoes. I have been wearing them around the house for 2 days they feel great with thin socks but when put my thicker socks on and walk my toes rub against the end. Should I send them back and get a bigger size. I don't really remember how my old boots fit. I can't find a snow shop anywhere near where I live so I am stuck ordering online. Please give me any info. If you have purchased K2 boots what size did you get compared to your actual shoe size? Thanks.

  1. As long as your toes are only "rubbing" the front of the liner, you should be good.  If they are pushing against the front, or if your toes are forced to bend when you lean back, you may have a problem.  Strap into your board in the house and lean around a bunch, trying to get as much play and movement out of your feet as possible.  If you're jamming your toes against the liner, it's no good.

Remember also that it's perfectly OK to wear a thin sock while boarding.  Thicker socks does not necessarily mean warmer feet or more comfort.

One trick I used on a pair of boots that were perfect except for snug toe space:

I used thick neoprene to make little "toe booties" that I slipped over my toes, and then put my boots on.  It was super tight.  I wore the boots literally all day for a couple days, just like regular shoes.  By the time I went riding that weekend, the boots still fit me perfect around the foot, with a little extra room in the toe area:-)  Good stuff

  2. If your boots are comfortable with the thin socks I'd say you're okay. Liners do tend to pack out a bit so they might loosen up a bit after a week or two of riding. And if they don't pack out you can just wear the thin socks all the time. I normally buy boots the same size as I wear in tennis shoes and they work fine usually. There are some brands that tend to run small though. DC says you should size up 1/2 size. But if your boots are comfortable walking around in them you're fine. Just don't wear thick socks until they loosen up a bit.

  3. I think that if your feet feel ok while wearing thick socks that you should keep your boots, its good to have a snug boot that will keep your foot in place.  As long as it's comfortable

  4. I suggest a pair of vans snowboard boots they are xtremly comfy, as i go snowboarding reguarly i have brought a pair of these boots

  5. I have thirtytwo boots and they are awesome! I highly recommend thirtytwo. If your K2 boots are two tight with thick socks just order the next size up! Good luck!

  6. If it's just a little snug with the thick socks keep them.  When you ride your feet will heat up and the liners will pack down and take on the shape of your feet and leave you abit of room.  My boots feel a bit tight when I'm just walking around but when I'm riding they're fine.

If you're looking for recommendations for boots I bought a pair of thirtytwo Exus boots and they're fantastic.
