  1. The K2 Illusion is a pretty good beginner-intermediate board. It's what i got. It's a great board to learn on. And it's a pretty good deal.

  2. Get a beginner/intermediate board.  The most beginner boards will be a waste of money because you'll progress past it pretty quickly.

If you're still growing it's not worth spending too much money on a board since you'll grow out of it in a season or two.

The kind of board you'll probably want is called "all mountain" meaning it performs fairly well in powder, park, everywhere.  The size of it depends on how tall you are, how much you weigh and your skills.

Head into a board shop and chat up the employees.  They'll be able to steer you in the right direction for your needs.

Oh, and don't listen to everyone on here who jumps in saying "OMG!!! BURTON CUSTOM IS TEH BEST!!!11!"  Burton's a decent company but their price points are a little high, especially for a beginner board.

  3. You might be a beginner now but after a full year of boarding you will be surprised how good you have gotten. I made the mistake of buying a beginner board for cheap and I was forced to buy a new one the next year because it was no good. If you can see yourself doing rails and jumps within a couple of years, I would get a park board with alot of flex. If you only plan to casually snowboard then go for a slightly longer, stiffer board. Personally I would go with a burton, regardless of board style. They are slightly more expensive than some other brands but you will be glad you got it a few years down the road. How tall are you (for board length)? They make boards for females too.
