  1. The side slipping isn't a big deal, it is just a matter of practicing and getting used to the balance.

You should be able to learn some basic tricks in a 2 hour lesson, but you will have to get very comforable making turns before you can do even the easiest of tricks. Even a basic 180 requires that you be able to ride (or land) switch.

    Good Luck

  2. A lesson can definitely teach you alot,   you need to let your instructor know your strengths and weaknesses and let him/her know exactly what your trying to learn, set goals for yourself, and be ready to learn..  After your lesson id suggest making friends with some kids that are decent at the mountain. Riding with good people should also make you better as you can mimic what you see. I surround myself with the best kids at the mountain and am continuously progressing/ learning new tricks.  Its all about visualizing what you want to do/ learn and commit yourself to it, When you fall, pick your butt off the ground and try it again and again until you learn it. Snowboarding is not something that you get awesome at over night, or after a 2 hour lesson for that matter.,  But with lots of practice and dedication anyone can be awesome at snowboarding. GOOD LUCK DUDE HAPPY SHREDDING
