  1. step in? like step in bindings? I didn't know they even MADE those horrible things anymore!

    Anyway, check out

http://www.sierrasnowboard.com they have really good beginner packages.

Drop some cash on boots. Your feet will thank you, try some DC's or some 32's

  2. You're a begginer? I've been boarding for six years and I still hate step-in boards. Those things totally reck your control. You should start with regular strap bindings, and then convert if you aren't satisfied with those. Step ins sound convinient, but I've seen all too often people popping out of those. Strap ons ever pop out sometimes, think what step in would do.

  3. If you're just starting out head to a snowboard shop and buy the second cheapest board.  It'll be an intermediate level and it will be what you need to nudge your skills up a bit.

As a beginner it doesn't matter too much what brand or anything you buy, you just need something ridable.

I'd avoid Burton if I were you because they can be a bit overpriced, although if it's no sale it might be reasonable.  Check out Lib Tech, Gnu, K2, Forum... pretty much any brand a board shop (not a sports store!) carries is worth riding.

  4. check end of the season sale...then pre seasons sales...2 years ago a got a brand new board, boots and bindings for under 200 dollars...it was at a "no snow" sale...we hadnt had much snow that season so all of the boards from that year were on sale!

  5. My Favorite Mens Snowboard:

1.Check out the Burton Dominant. Its the sickest board out there. You can get it as a size 146. Its pretty much in all the ski/snowboard stores. you can also find it on Burton.com. If you follow this link, it will help you find a location near you.

That board is sick. Darkside is a really good snowboard store. Its only snowboards, and snowboard gear. They have lots of binding choices, strap ins and slip ons. They dont have step ins. If you want something faster than strap ins go with the slip ons. Theyre more safe than step ins, and they are much quicker than strap ins. You can probibly find these at your local ski/snowboard store, and you can usually find them at the shop at your local mtn. If your nearby Ludlow VT, i know for a fact, they have slip on bindings in the Okemo MTN shop. Like I said before, Darkside is a really good store. If you look up darkside and go on there website, i think they have other locations. Their site isn't very good, but their store has loads of cool boards, boots, and bindings. I suggest finding a darkside nearby you because the customer service there is really good and they'll help you find boots, a board and bindings that fit your needs. good luck!
