I've been looking at a ton of Burton boards lately and i just have no idea what to buy. I'm a beginner (boarded for two years, 5 years ago, and just started up again) who just doesn't enjoy the hassle of renting. I'm also thinking of buying used gear too.

does it matter women's vs. men's boards? i've noticed that alot of girls use men's boards...if so what size mens board should i be looking in?

what are the characteristics of good bindings and boots?

i'd really love to get burton.... but am also on a budget max at 500 for board, boots, bindings. so what other brands are good?

thankyousomuch!

  1. i just bought my burton board today . they actually going on massive sales rightnow. and if you buy them online at http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/ its actually 50$ cheaper. i know that the usual measurement are suppose to be between your chin up to your nose. Burton also give a good approx weight chart.

thats all i can say, the rest the guy at the store helps me out with it. i am also a beginner, like literallly so good luck

  2. well if you really want to know your size just  put the board on the tail up ward and if the top of the board touches your nose or gets closets than its your right size. if you need help ask a clerk. for boards burton is either a brand for people who are really god or the begginers but they are also more of a park/ freestyle boards. you wouldnt want to blow alot of money on a board your gonna ride on. but some are okay. look for summer deals at your local shop they have huge discounts most of the time to get rid of the old moldels. boots go for the brand "ride" they are super comfertable and nicely made also prety cheep. bindings doesnt really mater but depending on your boot size you need to buy the right binding. E.X. size 11 boots    bindings: L. and ther is a massive difrence between girls and guy boards. jsut trust me. dont go for girl boards!! good bindings would be onse that have more metal. metal=strong plastic= bad investment.  if you ARE a park rider burton is always good along with ride, rome and K2. look for flex for good presses and decently light. the probly with burton is they make there boards have only work with their bindings so you cant buy any mixmatch. but like i said look for summer deals and things are majorly on sale

    hope that helps  :)

  3. First off...it really doesnt matter mens vs. womens boards. a board is a board no matter how you look at it. the sizings aren't different either...If you're done growing then i suggest getting a board that is a little bit bigger than you. Since your just starting up again, i hihghly doubt you're going to be going off rails and such...but if you are, a smaller board is better, for it's easier to control and spin with...

boots really don't matter...whatever is comfortable and warm is fine

Bindings are something to look somewhat hard into...response is what you want in bindings... i have Burton FREESTYLE bindings and they seem to work fine...they were about $110 but worth it...theyre good quality and they never come undone...Burton, Ride, Flow, or Forum bindings I find to be great quality bindings, but are placed at somewhat high prices (depending on the place you go to and if they have any deals)

anyways, If your looking to just have a good time on the trails and you DONT go on the terrain parks, I'd go for a relativel cheap board with decent quality bindings and comfortable boots. if you DO go on the terrain park, your lookking at high quality bindings and a light board...make sure what you get fits your needs...dont listen to what others say if its not what you want. Have fun!
