Question:

Snowboard size?

I am a begginer but I am in the market for a snowboard that I wont have to rent or barrow from friends. I am 180cm (5'11) and between 150-160 lbs. Also I wear 11-12 size shoes if that matters at all. Could somebody tell me which size board to look for and which brand? I just want to ride the slope no fancy jumping or anything like that.

Thanks in advance

  1. Weight is much more important than height, so I wouldn't follow the chin rule too closely.  You need to consider if you will be riding park/pipe or freeriding and also what king of snow conditions you will be seeing (powder, ice, hard pack, etc).  I found a pretty good list of things to consider here:

  2. When you go and look for a snowboard you should make sure the snowboard goes atleast up to your chin but no higher then your nose so you are able to stay in control also make sure the board is wide enough for your feet you dont want the boots to hanger to far over the board but a little is fine.

  3. well i recently got a job at xscape in the SNO! zone rentals so ive been tought how to set people with board sizes   whats recomended is that you get a board which in height  is between your shoulders and chin and because of your foot size id recommend getting an XL in width. so when your in the shop ask one of the staff and they will show you towards good makes for begginers etc... but remember you need bindings and boots as well so i would deffinatly recommend going to a shop quiet a good one in xscape castelford is elise brigham but i suppose it depends were you live, but that way they can get you all sorted and properly fit you.
