Question:

Snowboard sizing help!?

I'm a 135lb (Very lanky) 5'7" female novice snowboarder looking for a board that I can move up on. Right now I'm still learning but at the end of this season want to buy my first board. I plan on improving a lot and going frequently (I'm going to college up north) so I don't really have a restrictive budget; I want something nice that will last me a while. I've been renting boards from 150 to 152 and they seem to have been working out well. Is that too small for my height? I have been looking into the Burton Feelgood 151. People say it's nice and flexible and is good for both everyday riding and boarding the terrain park. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  1. Is the feelgood a female board? At your height i would go for a 152 - 153 and if you have a relatively small shoe size i would research female boards that might be more narrow and lighter. (your toes should hang about an inch off the edge). Hope this helps.

  2. feelgoods are nice as h**l. if the 151 is good for your bodythen go for it. its all about preference. you cant go wrong w/ burton

  3. your board should go from the ground to your chin or a little longer if your not done growing.

  4. As you like riding a bit of everything the best type of board for you to go for is an all mountain board. A good size for you for that type of board is around a 152 so about the same as you have been currently riding. Im not sure that the Burton Feelgood would be the best board for you to get as you are a novice rider and that board is more for intermediate to advanced riders. Having said that i have heard from people that its not too hard a board to ride, but im not sure on that one as im not female and have never demoed one. But maybe you should look at some easier boards to ride such as K2 Skyla, K2 Moment, Sapient Fluid, Salomon Lotus, Burton Feather, Nitro Mystique etc. All these boards are entry level boards and are easy to ride and learn on but they are still progressive enough to last you a while as you improve. Good luck with the riding.

  5. Well, it depends if u want a board thats easier to control or faster. Your board should be from anywhere from your chin to your nose depending on how you like it. And yea Burton Feelgoods are really nice. But i dont know about sizing its all preference. But I like to ride with a smaller board.

  6. Any snowboarding shop should be able to help you find what kind of board you need.  For one thing, the boards size by styles, whether you are slopestyle, freestlye, and freeride.  Most are freeriders.  This board is based on not only your height, but your weight too.  Sounds to me that you have been using a very good size board and I would stick with that.  But it is good to ask the store people to help you.

Good luck and I hope you find the right size.  :)
