Ive only been snowboarding for like 4 hours and when I'm on my heel edge I can turn really well, but when it comes to doing the toe edge I can only turn to my left :|

Any tips on how to turn both ways really well?

Thanks! :)

  1. For a turn on either edge, put more weight on your front foot, put pressure on the downhill side of your front foot (the one not touching the snow). This will "torque" the board and allow the front of the board to start swinging down hill.

Now it is most important NOT TO LEAN BACK - keep that weight on the downhill edge of the front foot until the board swings straight down the hill and only then transition your weight to the other edge and put your weight evenly on both feet and the board will naturally go across the hill and slow down.

    Good Luck

  2. nothing other than practice, and the ability to take a lot of good falls. keep your knees bent.

  3. hmmm this is kind of hard to explain.  all i can say that would be helpful is: make sure your body is always leaning towards the mountain.  if it isn't, you will catch your edge and fall.  you have to use your back leg like a rudder; move your leg, not your whole body.

  4. From your description, it doesn't sound like you are actually turning.  We don't turn left and right in snowboarding, we turn toeside and heelside.  If I understand your correctly, when you are on your toe edge you can traverse the hill toward the left but not to the right.  If that is the case, here is your tip:  keep your entire body aligned with the snowboard:knees, hips, shoulders all in line.  Then press your chin against your right shoulder to look over your shoulder to the right.  Then use a little more weight on your right foot and you will be traveling to the right.  Try to look up into the distance and not at the snow.  God luck!

  5. it's all about your little toe and the angle of lean into the turn. Put your body into the turn and push your little toe to where u want to go.........bingo. (snowboarding since 1991 when boards had a flat back and boots were ski boots and one wrong turn and the mountain took ya)
